Portland Nurseries are a family-owned group of six day nurseries within the Huddersfield and Halifax areas - Bradley House, Harlequin, Holly Bank, Fairfield, Oakwood House and Forest School and Portland House. They usually advertise for childcare apprentices and other childcare practitioners throughout the year.

£7.60 an hour whilst training

Requirements

GCSEs at grades 9-4 in maths and English (or to be attained within an agreed time frame)

You should also have:

An enthusiasm for working with young children
An interest in the care, learning and development of young children
A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities

Personal qualities:

Good organisational and planning skills
Punctuality
Patience
Reliability and trustworthiness
Able to work in a team
A commitment to safeguarding children

Description

As an apprentice you will be trained to be early years educator. This involves contributing to a high quality caring environment for children, which includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
